LONDON'S NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL
Project context
This famous London Carnival has its origins in the British Caribbean community of the 60s – an implementation of Caribbean island culture that aimed to improve inter-community relations at the time.
This carnival has thus become not only a popular annual celebration in London but also an event that focuses on socio-diversity, richness and the mix of cultures which brings the British economy around £140 million pounds ($180 million dollars).
A long weekend of highly publicized festivities where parades, costumes, music and gastronomy are one to represent the Caribbean Islands sees more than 2 million visitors each year.
About the project
Haiti participated for the first time in August 2022. This would not be possible without our sponsors, partners and the increasing Haitian community in Great Britain.
We have an agreement with the organizers for Haiti to take part in this year carnival. That would be on the 27th and 28th of August 2023
Building from a successful 2022 carnival performance:
-
Tempo Mass float live performance (attended by over 150,000 spectators)
-
Powis Square live stage performance (attended by over 1,500 spectators)
